Greetings!

Welcome to the History of Kinsman, Ohio

Hello and welcome to our Digital History undertaking!  This website contains links to everything we have so far accomplished with our Digital History project, and we’re adding more all the time.  We have transcribed and scanned old documents, scanned the old photographs, and photographed the artifacts and relics in our possession in order to best preserve the history of our town.   The Archivist’s Notes we’ve included are to help the reader understand what each piece of the project attempts to do.  They also explain the symbology and the captioning processes used as we began the project.

All the work done on photographs, from scanning them into Digital format to retouching them, was performed using Adobeâ PhotoshopÔ 5.0.  The web pages to follow and the transcriptions of the documents were all done in Microsoftâ Word 2000.  Web editing and posting was accomplished with Microsoftâ Frontpage 98 (v.4.10.1998). These programs are some of the best and most advanced on the market, and they allow us to archive these pieces of history using the most up-to-date methods available to us.

To better understand what we hope to accomplish, please follow the link below to our Digital Mission, which better outlines the processes we are using to archive the documents, photographs, artifacts, and relics in our collection.  Our mission also better explains the purpose of this project and everything we seek to accomplish.

Welcome to history!
